Introduction:
Welcome to the Harrogate Town Centre Development Group [HTCDG]. A business
group run voluntarily by a Steering Committee of Town Centre [TC] Business
Professionals with support from and under the umbrella of Harrogate Chamber
of Trade and Commerce [HCTC].
The formation of the group comes after the demise of the old retailer’s
forum and from concerns raised by Peter Jesper (Local retailer and HCTC Vice
President) in the summer of 2011 regarding the health and state of the Town
Centre trading environment and the lack of voice and representation that TC
businesses were perceived to have.
From a standing start, the group now has a membership of over 100 TC
businesses (November 2011) and the Steering Committee is actively lobbying
on several areas of concern previously identified by the membership via SWOT
analysis and initiatives poll (including Parking charges & issues, TC
signage & environment, Buy Local Initiatives, Street & Farmers market issues
to name a few).
 Participation:
Interest is welcome from all TC stakeholders and business leaders and we’d
welcome your input and feedback (either on TC issues specifically affecting
your business, on more general areas or if you’d like to volunteer to assist
at committee level etc.).
To register your interest, request inclusion into further mailings, give
feedback on current topics and/or to raise new matters of concern, please
email our central address and we’ll endeavour to direct your correspondence
to the right place.
