AND
THE WINNER OF THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
AWARD WAS ….
OUR CHIEF EXECUTIVE BRIAN DUNSBY!
May I
congratulate all the winners and indeed all those who were nominated, but
especially Brian, who’s selfless and tireless devotion to the promotion of
small businesses locally, nationally and internationally over many years, is
recognised by this award.
I first started
representing my company at the Chamber in 2003 and was immediately impressed
with the relentless enthusiasm and vigour that Brian applies to his
voluntary role. In my capacity over recent years as Vice- President and
currently President of the Chamber, I have experienced at close hand the
gritty determination that Brian puts into every aspect of his work.
He is as
knowledgeable as anyone in Harrogate about all aspects of transport and
planning and represents the Chamber with enormous effectiveness as a
respected member on a number of bodies throughout the region.
As a result of
his drive and determination the Chamber has gone from strength to strength.
It is highly respected as the voice of Harrogate business, enjoys a high
profile in the district and is regularly consulted by district and county
councils as well as other bodies on matters of local and regional concern.
The success of Brian’s brainchild, the Yorkshire Business Market, has
further strengthened the position of the Chamber and put it on a sound
financial footing, enabling it to make contributions in further support of
local businesses. As well as providing sponsorship for the Ackrill Media
Group Business Awards, the Chamber has been able to pledge further
sponsorship to the Harrogate
Hospitality & Catering Awards, Harrogate in Bloom, Harrogate International
Festival, a new Harrogate visitor map, and not forgetting Christmas Lights
In
his acceptance speech Brian, with typical modesty, but quite rightly, paid
tribute to his long standing team and in particular Beryl, his wife and
business partner and Maggie Hall, the Chamber Administrator who both work
tirelessly for our Chamber.
Thank you to
everybody who lent their support for Brian’s nomination and I look forward
to seeing you on Monday April 26th at Pavilions of Harrogate for
the 6th Yorkshire Business Market.
